Robert Sorby 843 Roughing Gouge HSS (19mm - 32mm)

Features

Robert Sorby’s Excelsior range has been designed with the connoisseur woodturner and those who regularly turn hard woods in mind. A plasma bonded titanium nitride (TiN) finish layered over traditional triple tempered high speed steel provides the perfect combination for tool longevity and edge retention.
Recommended for the initial turning of un-even of square stock to round. The shape of the roughing-out gouge enables the tool to cut safely with the wings (the name given to the tips of the side walls) well back from the workpiece.
Roughing gouges must not be used on bowl projects.
These tools have a deep flute grind
Many turners prefer to turn their tool handles to their own specifications. For those turners we offer the un-handled versions of Sorby's standard turning tools. These blades are identical to the ones found on the handled versions.
The blades listed here will also fit the Sorby Sovereign System Handles. A Collet Adapter may be required if used with the Sovereign System. Check your manual for the size collet required if, any.
